CHARITY TV COMMERCIAL & FUNDRAISING VIDEO CAMPAIGN

The Kids' Cancer Project

The Kids’ Cancer Project funds vital research to improve survival rates and treatments for children with cancer.

Through our long-term partnership, 1 Minute Media has produced TV commercials, fundraising videos, research case studies and campaign assets that support the organisation’s national fundraising activity.

This case study focuses on the Better Health Challenge, where our team rapidly produced a national TV commercial and supporting digital campaign assets to help drive awareness, participation and ongoing sign-ups.

Mission

The Kids’ Cancer Project funds vital research to improve treatments and survival rates for children with cancer. Video plays an important role in raising awareness, attracting supporters and driving participation in fundraising campaigns.

When a last-minute national TV opportunity became available through Channel 9, The Kids’ Cancer Project engaged 1 Minute Media to rapidly produce a high-quality TV commercial for its annual Better Health Challenge.

Our role was to create a campaign film that could connect emotionally with viewers, communicate the purpose of the fundraiser and encourage people to sign up.

Creative Direction

To create an authentic connection with viewers, 1 Minute Media built the TVC around the real people at the heart of the Better Health Challenge.

The campaign featured Hugo, who was diagnosed with leukaemia at age 11, alongside CEO Owen Finegan, researcher Dr David Mizrahi and members of The Kids’ Cancer Project team. Their stories connected the fundraising challenge directly to childhood cancer research and the people working to improve outcomes.

The final TV commercial balanced emotion with a positive call to action, positioning participation in the Better Health Challenge as a practical way for audiences to support vital research.

Results

The TV commercial was turned around at record speed to take advantage of additional Channel 9 advertising space and support the Better Health Challenge nationally.

The campaign was extended across web and social platforms, with tailored video versions continuing to drive thousands of new and returning sign-ups for the Better Health Challenge.

The broader impact of The Kids’ Cancer Project is substantial. Since 1993, the organisation has committed more than $70 million to childhood cancer research and supported over 400 research projects across Australia.
