Smoke and ash clouds gather over Sydney and much of NSW

With the hottest September week on record recently recorded, Sydney and NSW residents are bracing themselves for a long and difficult bush fire season.

1 Minute Media snapped this ominous image just above Bronte Beach at 4.40pm today, Thursday 17 October, 2013.

The eerie colour in the sky above Sydney is the result of a combination of smoke and ash, from fires burning in the Blue Mountains vicinity. Much of NSW is ablaze today and firefighters have a massive task to ensure the safety of homes and residents.
